Depo-Provera

All I know is that my daughter gained a huge amount of weight

from that shot. They stopped giving it to for that

reason.

I too gained a lot of weight from the shot and I decided to stop doing it before I had my surgery. It was also giving me Migraines which I couldn't handle. However, there is an increased risk of blood clots when you use any sort of birth control, but if you don't smoke and you remain active after your surgery, like getting up to walk frequently, you should be ok.

I was on Depo for three years and gained 80 pounds. Nothing I did was able to stop it. And I didn't attribute the weight gain to it at the time otherwise I would have stopped sooner.

Had I known then what I do now I never would have gotten that shot, I am not completely blaming it for my 318lb self but it certainly did not help. My nurse ended up telling me that people who have a tendency to gain weight, will gain weight with Depo. It just seems so counter productive if you are having this procedure.

I gained over 40lbs in just over a year on depo. aHte it. It also really screwed up my fertility. I had regualr cycles before DP and coceived my first 2 kids easily. After Depo (its been 9 years since I stopped) I have only had maybe 5-10 periods on my own since then and I have had to take fertility drugs to conceive my post-depo children. Its dreadful stuff...

My experience was totally the opposite: I love my Depo. been on it for a total of 6-7 years. Conceived my second son with no problems. Gained no significant weight. (did my usual yo-yo stuff.) I have to wait until next tuesday until I can go on it again postsurgery and I'm not going to put it off one minute longer than I have to.

Just wanted to give a different perspective. :)

the mad frog lady.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
