Sip sip sip! You have to meet that Fluid requirement. Day 5 post op, I ended up with a 4 day hospital stay because of it. I am still feeling the effects of the dehydration

I'm scared I can drink too much liquid!!! Im not hungry, but I don't feel any restriction on my liquid that I can tell. Sleeved 8/31 and I can drink premier Protein shake with no problems of thickness.

The doc gave me specific thin shakes for the first 3 days. I think I would be so nervous except I had a hernia fixed right at the opening of my stomach.

I also had a hiatal hernia repair with my surgery and it didn't complicate my recovery. I don't think you can drink too much liquid, just too much too fast. Your stomach is swollen so you will feel restriction in the sense that a small sip was enough. Then you have another one. As the swelling goes down, it gets much easier. I may be in the minority, but at 2.5 mths out, I feel a sense of fullness with liquids (16 oz.) and especially Protein Shakes.

I want cheese puffs! I have passed them up at the grocery store 3 times now and daily in the work vending machine! I've never found myself "wanting " cheese puffs. Lol. I've bought them on rare occasions to pack in the kids lunch. I think it's because in my head, they are soft and I think I could tolerate them at this point. So now I'm dwelling on them, as I would love a salty treat!

Blu2020, I am three weeks post-op and I had exactly the same concerns the first few days after surgery! But it definitely gets easier. Just keep sipping. I think I was anxious because I could not drink as quickly as I used to, and I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. So, I started pouring my fluids from my big cup into a 2 oz. shot glass, and then I started feeling more relaxed about it because I could see progress every time I would finish sipping a shot.

I also found that if I took a nice deep breath in between every few sips (especially when drinking shakes), that really helped.

You will see: it will get much easier to drink in the coming days and weeks. Good luck!

I feel the same way. I feel like some of those other people that ask "did he really remove 80% of my stomach?" .... In al seriousness, I know he did, but it's crazy that I can sip the Premier Protein's and have been eating the Soups for meals, which technically isn't until Tuesday. I just couldn't stomach the clear broths and all fluids any more. I hope I don't mess anything up but I'm not uncomfortable and just sipping everything slowly.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
