Driving Home from Surgery?

Recommended Posts

So, I live in Vegas, about a 4 hr drive to San Diego. I am making plans to get surgery in Tijuana and am contemplating whether to drive or fly. Do you think you would have been able to do a 4 hr drive 4 days post op? Only reason I dont want to fly is that spirit airlines is the only company that flies direct and I hate them. They chaege rediculous fees for bags and their planes are crappy and uncomfortable

Can someone drive you? With a few stops to move around - you would probably be ok as a passenger. Driving yourself that soon might not be a great idea but confirm with your surgical team.

I will be alone. All I have on this side of the country is my husband and he has to stay home with my 2 year old. The 2 yr old is going to be difficult when I get home too but thats another story. Thanks for your input, guess I'll be flying

Pay the money, take a flight. (Better yet, stay another day or stay in a hotel so you can rest!)

You shouldn't fly for 6 weeks due to the risk for blood clots and you should not drive after the procedure until you are off of pain med and have no abdominal tenderness that would delay your reaction time while driving. If you get a ride you should limit time in the car to 30 minutes at a time and get out to stretch, walk and get bliss circulating. Good luck! Where there is a will there is a way. I am sure someone would be happy to drive you and if not there is always uber!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
