Pain three days out

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I just had my surgery Tuesday. Until yesterday when u got home, I felt relatively good. Since coming home, my belly has gotten rigid and sore, and I'm nauseated by everything. Is this normal for anyone? I'll call Dr in am, but I'm wondering what everyone else has experienced. Btw. I had laproscopic rny.

I'm 8 days out and still in pain. At first I thought it was because of Constipation, but that was cleared up. I've just been icing the part that's still in pain (my left side next to my belly and around 3/4 of my side) and I'm taking the pain meds from the hospital, but I just take it once instead of every 6 hours now.

I'm hoping the pain will get better next week or at least by my 1st pre op appt next friday.

Feel better hun.

It is normal. My surgeon told me that they use a numbing agent that typically wears off after 3 days. Give it a week and I'm sure you'll feel so much better.

Moral of the story - listen to your body. I felt worse by the hour. Belly got more tender and rigid. Couldn't eat or drink. My friend who came to check on me tried to reach bariatric office or surgeon. No dice. So to the ER we went. A catscan later I was back in OR to fix a hernia. I feel much better again. I'm glad bc I was regretting this choice if that's how I was going to feel! Glad it's not.

So sorry you ended up back in the OR but I'm glad you are feeling much better and didn't try to tough it out like most of us would have. You know your body and this is a great example of that. Hope the rest of your recovery is eventful free.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
