13 DPO no appetite and not thirsty
Is this normal? or is it because I'm still in a lot of pain. The pain is my lower left quadrant and no pain meds will touch it, no tylenol, muscle relaxers, no amount of walking, ice therapy (I haven't tried heat yet) is helping. No appetite I'm still working on my Protein shake from Breakfast. I have no appetite and I'm not thristy. I haven't poop because of my lack of appetite. (I'll drink some hot lemon Water before bed) I'm regular, I think my body is hating me right now. I'm taking my Vitamins and lovenox and all my other meds, even though my blood sugars aren't decreasing, so I had to add one of my insulins back to get it back under control. I had an appetite and I was drinking my fluids on Sunday, the lost of appetite happened yesterday evening. Is this normal?

Hospital Weight Gain
I gained 5 lbs while I was there. I've pretty much lost that 5 lbs already. Actually I'm 8 days post op and lost 15 lbs.

Exercise! :(
I've been walking around the house. I started doing some walk away the pounds. Next week I'm hopefully can just take daily walks to the mailbox and back. (my box is not in front of my apartment). I'm looking forward to lifting weights again.

Pain three days out
I'm 8 days out and still in pain. At first I thought it was because of constipation, but that was cleared up. I've just been icing the part that's still in pain (my left side next to my belly and around 3/4 of my side) and I'm taking the pain meds from the hospital, but I just take it once instead of every 6 hours now. I'm hoping the pain will get better next week or at least by my 1st pre op appt next friday. Feel better hun.

How much time did you take off work?
My insurance only approved me for 4 weeks. My surgery day was Aug 24 and I go back Sept 20. Actually I don't mind that only because I'm hoping they have some overtime at work, lol. But mostly, I'm sure I'll be fine when I actually go back and I don't want to lose my passwords to my systems. On a odd note, I had to pack my desk before I left because I'm getting a new cube when I get back.

Pre-op fears
I think it's perfectly normal to have pre-op fears. I had an appointment yesterday with my surgeon and the nurse said my pressure was high (It's normally normal) and I realize that I was a little nervous of having the surgery. Today starts the liver shrink. I have more of a fear of my liver not being smaller when he goes in. I think if anything my family and friends are more fearful, than I am. They forget that I can pick up on certain emotions and I can tell that their recent attitudes towards me is fearful that I won't survive the surgery or that I will fail and the surgery would be for nothing. I have placed all of my fears, doubts, and nervousness over to God. He's in complete control and if it's my time to leave this earth, then I'm secure in the knowledge that I will be at home in heaven with him.

Not Cleared for Surgery Yet
Hey everyone, So, even though I have been approved from the insurance, the hospital where I'm having the surgery at has not cleared me for surgery. They have this Patient Selection Group for Bariatric Patients that my Surgeon had to stand before and plead my case since my a1c was high in February. so, they want me to do the following before they clear me. - meet with the Diabetes Treatment Center again - my a1c has to be under 8 (no problem, it's already under due to being on Victoza now) - meet with the Bariatric Nutritionist - attend 2 support groups - continue psych therapy (I go every 3 months anyway, so no problem. attend support groups post op. So that is my homework assignment until I get a surgery date. So, I"m estimating now for it to be mid-late Summer. I"m optimistic, my mom is frustrated, and my sister and everyone else who was apprehensive is relieved.

Exciting news, but still not officially approved
I got the same call from Anthem, but at that time, she didn't know that I was approved. But she said oh we have an admission date of June 8th. I was like ok. Then, I get a letter from my surgeon office letting me know that I was approved.

what made you decide on the RNY ?
It was kinda decided for me based on having diabetes and my history with acid reflex.
