How long before you could go back to work? (desk job/non physical)

Recommended Posts

I was told I could go back after 2 weeks but I had a complication so I'm going back after 3 weeks.

I'm scheduled for surgery 9/1. I have told my employer it will be 4-6 weeks till I can return. I am a licensed massage therapist. Even though I am only working two days a week, I will turn 60 next month and it is a very physically demanding job. I suffer from sleep apnea as well, wasn't able to tolerate cpap so between lack of sleep and now food, not taking any chances.

I am scheduled for September 22 (Thursday) and plan to return September 29 (the following Thursday). I have a desk job so I think I will be ok to push through those 2 days before I can relax at home again that following weekend.

Back after 1 week. I walk/stand a fair amount, but mostly sitting. We don't have sick leave and it comes out of our vacay. I could have gone back after 5 days, but enjoyed taking a "me" day. I also love my job and wanted to get back into the swing. Had my 2 week f/u yesterday and doc cleared me for any physical activity I want.

I have my VSG on Wed the 21st. My post-op is Wed the 28th. My plan is to return to work at least a few hours on the 29th as well. Wishing us both the best of luck!

I actually just returned to work today exactly 4 weeks after surgery. I took as long as my job provided for a paid leave without having to jump thru hoops. I think it was worth it. I was able to feel a little normal again seeing that I'm

In the soft foods stage now. My advice is take as long as you need and are able to.

I had my surgery Turs 8/23 I'm planning on going back on Tues 8/30. I have a desk job with no lifting, but I feel great. No pain, a little gas discomfort but that's minimal now. Dr said next week should be fine. I also bought an abdominal binder just in case. But I feel really really good. Only 3 instances where I felt like I was gonna puke (never did) and that was one the day of surgeryband two the day after.

My surgeon suggested 4 weeks. I'm an administrative assistant and he said I would still feel tired at the end of the day. Gotta get used to your new lifestyle.

I was off a month. Physically could've gone back in a week. It is the program and adjustments that you need time to get the hang of.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
