I need help keeping this secret!

Recommended Posts

I said I wasn't going to tell people but I've told everybody. I also have a big mouth. I'm excited and I can't keep it a secret AT ALL! I don't care what people think about it. But I might care later when I'm all skinny. People are gonna tell people. "Yea she's pretty but it's because she had WLS". Grrr I don't want that.

Just an FYI, because you'de said you have mostly thin friends...... I'm not sure others have found this to be true, but I found my thinner friends were the most supportive when I told them. The ones that usually were the most negative were my overweight/obese friends.

Weird, hu?

Exactly the same for me.

I've told a few people.. husband, daughter, 1 sister, bestfriend at work, a friend who had band, and another friend who is going to have sleeve in spring.

It is none of anyones business what I do to my body medically. I do not ask what medical procedures others have, do you?

My husband is very private and insisted we tell no one. Even his 30 year old son has no idea. We took care of ourselves. I value my husband and his request. I gained a healthy respect for keeping my mouth shut because I want to live, not discuss our surgery with people. Over and over people rant about confiding with one friend who spreads the word. I even remember one person here who told HR at work, who shared the information.

For me it is easier to tell people I had surgery. I had surgery in June when I was off from work for summer break went back August 1 almost 40lbs lighter everybody asking how you did blah blah so I just said surgery so they leave me alone lol

I have only told a few people so far I don't feel it is everybody's business I am a blabber mouth also but I don't want to hear any negativity. The few that I have told have mainly been supportive. Actually I am very lucky my husband is my biggest supporter. My daughters when I told them were supportive. In the past I had considered bypass they were not supportive of that.

I've only told my husband and one friend. I have no desire to share my journey with people who will most likely not understand it. I lost about 50 pounds a few years ago and got a lot of inquiries about the weight loss, so I expect to get them again once I have the surgery. I plan to say that I am eating less and exercising more, which is true. For me, I am less confident as an obese person and constantly talking about my weight doesn't help. This is what I feel most comfortable doing, but each person has to find their own comfort level with sharing or not sharing their surgery story.

I only told a few people but people talk. When you lose weight, many people assume you've had surgery. Just figure out your canned answer to the question "how are you losing weight?" My answer was always eat less, move more.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
