Pre-Op diet & start of cold

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! So I'm slightly freaking out as last night I started to get the scratchy throat that usually means I'm getting sick. Last night I drank some Water with Braggs Apple Cider vinegar (so gross) and it seemed to help a little, but my question is this...

I'm on day six of pre-op liquid diet and I've been very good, but I really need to use some honey in my tea as I think it will help. Think this is okay? I'll call the doctor tomorrow if I'm still feeling scratchy and go from there as I'm a week out from surgery...but I know we're supposed to avoid sugar. However, I know that honey really helps.

Any thoughts?

@@maredarlin Take Airborne. The issue with having honey is - it will probably take you out of ketosis. Ketosis is the goal of the pre-op diet. I would look into sugar free throat drops instead. Feel better!!!

Thank you. I had one teaspoon of honey, so that's 1/3 of a normal serving, but I won't do anymore. I pulled out my neti pot and used more apple cider vinegar. I just went to store and picked up some sugar-free Halls Defense Vitamin C drops. I looked at Airborne, but it has a few things my doctor put on the list to not have in the two weeks prior to surgery, so I'll check with him on that first.

But again, thanks. I'm just going to do everything I can to squash this.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
