Thank you so much, ordered the GENEPRO (one tbsp. per 30 g is way better). Yes I think its the sweeteners also. I can handle Propel Water so at least I am getting my 64 oz fluids (well do my best) but the Protein is a challenge now which is so frustrating (also going broke buying all this stuff lol) I cant wait to the soft food stage so that I can eat eggs and other kinds of high Protein stuff.

I am 2 weeks out and not hungry but smells of food are kind of making me want food. Plain Water does the same thing to me, can't stand it. Also since the surgery seems like my taste buds got even more picky than before. I can't stomach the protein shakes and the whey unflavored powder tastes horrible (it does have a flavor) It has become a chore to try to get in 60-80 grams of protein a day now cause I cannot stand practically everything protein comes in.. Very frustrating. I found that I like Fair life milk but it makes me nauseous. I am hoping that I will like the shakes again cause they have a lot of protein but right now just thinking of drinking one is making me queasy. Any suggestions on protein besides Trusource, shakes etc??

Syntrax Nectars are nice, I like all the fruit flavors and they're quite high protein. You should be able to drink clear broth as well, doesn't your program allow that on Clear Liquids? You can add protein to it...I use GENEPRO unflavored protein and I can't detect it once I mix it into a beverage or food...what brand are you using?

Another thing to consider is that maybe you're sensitive to the sweetener in your Protein Shakes? I hate both aspertame (not in a lot of protein) and sucralose (in virtually every flavored protein), so I switched to Genepro and use either stevia or Monkfruit liquid to sweeten things.

I hear you about going broke...my support group loves me because for weeks I showed up with a failed Protein Powder to give away each meeting. After I switched to Genepro, no more giveaways and no more spending $30 on something that tastes awful :)

And good for you for getting close to your 64oz so early...I'm still struggling to get it all in daily.

LOL I have a lady at my work that is about to have surgery and I have been giving her all my shakes that I bought and bout to give her my powder stuff too. I also got some organic whey protein (just came in yesterday) it wasn't too bad. It had a taste but I put it in chicken broth and it was tolerable. I am way excited about the Genepro I can put 2 tbsp. (if it tastes alright lol ) in a broth and have most my protein and I wont have to worry about it. At work I forget to eat so it would be great to get most of the protein all at once :)

I'm six days post op. I use to love Water and cannot tolerate it anymore without flavor and even then it's hard. My first few days I was so worried about not getting sufficient liquids/protein. I'm not making an effort and it seems to be working to concentrate on getting it in. This morning I started on a nectar Fuzzy Navel, the whole pack with 16 ounces Water and I'm still sipping it. It literally takes me a couple of hours to have my Protein.

I hate the pain the left of my belly button. My nurse told me yesterday its something to do with the umbilical muscle or the muscle next to the umbilical incision and it takes long to heal from the trauma. I HATE it. ouchy. If I didn't have that pain, I think I could sleep better.

Is that one scoop (30g protein)? One thing my otherwise pretty laid-back doc did really insist upon is that I remember to not bother going over 30g protein per meal...he said it's pretty well proven that most of us can absorb only 30g or a little less at a time. I'd just hate for you to waste that expensive powder and it not be put to good use by your body.

Well crap, I am glad you said that. My doc really didn't say anything about it. But I guess I will have to split it up. I will figure out something lol. Have a tbsp. in the am or something. At this point I just want my protein lol

I feel the need to inject my normal disclaimer about GENEPRO here. They *claim* to give you the "benefit" of 30 grams of Protein in a 15 gram serving. But there have been no independent studies to verify this claim. So, I would take it with a grain of salt and still only count each serving as 15 grams toward my daily goal. If you ARE actually getting the benefit of more protein, then great! But if their claim turns out to be false, you could be coming in very low on your daily protein goals if you are relying heavily on Genepro to get there.

Thanks, JamieLogical, for pointing that out. *I'm* comfortable counting it as 30g based on local support group members who are using it and having good labs, as well as my surgeon's support, but everyone should consider the chance that it's only 15g per serving.

Well, obviously beyond the liquid food stages, we should all be aiming to get the majority of our protein from actual food. So hopefully we'd only be using Genepro or any protein supplements as just that, a supplement. At that point whether it's actually 15 or 30 grams or somewhere in between shouldn't matter much. But if someone is supposed to be getting 90 grams a day and is relying solely on Genepro to get there, the risk would be only getting 45 grams, which would put them WAY short of their target.

I am day 8 since my surgery and I want food. Not steak or anything (but that would be tasty) but eggs, mashed potatoes, ricotta cheese, cream cheese, soft foods. I am a Water drinker and like you all it's getting hard. I have been using the Premier Protein shakes and even those are getting hard to drink. I am hungry lately and i really think it's all in my head because physically I don't feel hungry. At my 1 week appointment I did find out that I was very dehydrated and need to be careful or I will have to get admitted for IV fluids. I pushed it yesterday and drank too much and it ended up coming back out. That was not a fun feeling. I just can't wait to get over these first stages.

I'm 8 days post op from sleeve surgery. I was hungry for the first 5 days and then it just went away. You have to get creative with the Protein powders. You can make beverages that cover the taste quite well. I've started getting a real high just looking at the scale every morning and watching the weight fall off. I gained 7 pounds in the hospital from the fluids they pump into you. In 8 days I lost that 7 pounds and 10 mote. Stick with it and it will work. All the bad crap will get better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
