Sleeping with acid

Recommended Posts

So I was wondering if anyone else has the issue of waking up in the middle of the night with sever pain from acid reflux? Like clock work I always wake up at 4 and I am burping and in so much pain. What do yall do? And yes I take my PPI right before bed.

They may need to change you to a different ppi. I was on a 20 mg does of one kind and was still having issues so they changed me to a 40 mg dose of a different kind and that resolved it with the first dose. I have now a few months later been able to go back down to the lower dose one without issue and hope to be off it all together by the end of the year.

Yes, I had that too in the first few weeks of my sleeve op.

Woke up few times with "foamies" choking on and coughing up burning acid. Very scary!

I elevated my pillows, and changed PPI from Rabeprazole 20mg to Nexium 40mg.

Nexium worked, and still does. My surgeon told me I need to be on it for 12 months, instead of usual 3 months post surgery.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon :)

I too had this problem, every night. I'd been on protonix for over 10 years and had an endoscopy to ensure no ill effects. Had sleeve surgery in Dec 2015, and with the weight loss and diet change, this is gone. I still need my proton in, but as long as I take it, I'm good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
