Struggling with food

Recommended Posts

I am a rebel by nature and too smart for my own good. I've released 60 lbs since my surgery (12-2-15) and just over 100 lbs overall. I've been stalled at 235 now for 2 months and I am not at a loss for why. While I'm diligent about getting my Protein, I eat whatever I want, usually too quickly and therefore too much.

Last night, throughout the night, I devoured a container of Cookies. It's the first time since my first week on solids the I vomited. I couldn't stop myself.

I just need to come clean, find a way to get onto my surgeon's recommended food plan, and to stay on it.

Thanks for being here.

@@deairae thanks for posting. Being accountable with ourselves is so important, and posting here can help. At the same time, please be kind to yourself as this is hard work. I agree that having a plan/goals/action steps has been helpful to me, especially when I struggle. May you find your path!

When you stop and think about it.......really think about it.........the only thing we truly have control over in our lives is what we put in our mouths.

Therapy could be a real help. But if you're "too smart for your own good" still, you might not want to admit you need help.

Still, I think last night is a really clear sign that it might be time to consider learning more from a professional. I hope you do. There's just something in the tone of your post that makes me think you are someone who is actually really hard on yourself. I'm picking up a lot of angry self-talk between the lines.

Reach out for help, try to understand the why and not just the what, in terms of your behavior.

You can't beat yourself up to a better life.

I was 5 weeks out and got carried away, even though my indulgence was allowable Proteins, I still went too far and paid the price. I remind myself how horrible that felt and have reeled in the temptation. Perfect? By no means, I do carry that Water with me at all times and take a good, slow swig when I feel the urge coming on, I have also stashed Protein Drinks in my truck, purse, office and even friend's offices, just in case. It's helping, you just have to find what works for you. Good luck!

Thank you all! It's comforting to know you are here and you hear me.

I don't have a plan B yet. I'm torn between moving into maintenance, as I have reached my original goal weight, and taking the opportunity of still being in my first year to lose as much as I can.

I have been working with a therapist, however I only see her once a month, and it isn't enough right now. I have known for a while that it isn't enough.

I guess that is my plan B. I will call her first thing in the morning and set up weekly sessions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
