Sipping water after a workout?

Recommended Posts

I hope to have surgery this month. Here's my current worry: you know when you've come off your hike or your bike or from the garden hot and sweaty and thirsty and you grab that cold bottle of Water and gulp-gulp-gulp those delicious ice cold mouthfuls of water to quench your desperate thirst? How in the world am I supposed to take little tiny sips of water after VSG? I've been told

I'll never have the capacity to guzzle cold water after a workout again? This is so concerning to me! How do you hydrate well after a workout?

You will be able to take larger drinks as time passes. A small bottle of Gatorade I can drink almost 1/2 when I come in from sweating. You will be able to hydrate just not gulp down like you do now.

After several weeks you'll do just fine hydrating after a workout. Trust me, there are thousands of us post-vsg and we are working out and perfectly capable of hydrating ourselves, we aren't collapsing in little withered heaps all over the place ;)

It is only during the few days or week that you have to sip sip sip. Once the swelling goes down, you can drink much easier. And gets easier as time goes by.

I don't have to sip....that's only right after surgery. I can drink normal now.

After a while, once you heal and the internal swelling goes down, you will be able to drink normally. At first, the tiniest sips hurt like H#@L!! after many months (I had a lot of swelling) I was able to drink normally, I now drink over a gallon a day!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
