People are starting to ask me

Two people at work this week commented that I lost weight. I'm not very close to them so just said, "Thanks, I'm trying."

Someone here said they would tell people that you are following your doctor's orders exactly. Low carbs high Protein exercise... If you had a hernia repair during your sleeve that would be a bonus because you could tell the truth about the hernia surgery...

I am envious. I am 6 weeks out and not has soul has noticed. Even the girls at the bank. I went from a size 16 to a 12. You think I would get a compliment or something. I think I am gonna get my hair cut, that always draws comments. What I am most excited about is Cancun in December. My favorite Aunt is going with me. I was 215 the last time I saw her the day before surgery. I will see her again in December. She doesn't know about my surgery. My goal is to have a beach body by then.

Course you know you already have a Beachbody... Take your body to the beach. There you go!

If the person asking has a weight problem I will tell them the whole story.

Anyone else I say 'portion control'

I would like feed back from those who are past the 4 week post-op phase to weigh in on how you think I'm doing. My surgery was July 6, 2016. I lost 7 lbs during the two week pre-op phase and 19 lbs in the past 4 weeks post-op. Total since June 25...26 lbs.

Am I doing okay? Should it be more? I feel great except my belly button incision...still a small open wound, but not infected. Energy low, but manageable. I feel like it should be more weight loss, but perhaps I'm doing good.

Thanks.

Depends on where you started, but I'd say you're doing great

scale is moving in the right direction at a good rate.....so I'd say you are doing well.

The key, though.......is how you feel about it. You know what the answers are to the questions: are you adhering to your plan ? Are you making the most of this ? Do you have plans to active once you are safely able to do so and feel the energy (the energy will get much better really soon, too) ?

The guidelines provided to me by my surgical team indicate to expect on average 20-40 lbs by 6 weeks post op.

it's another range at 3 months 6 and 12 I'm only focused on where I am currently which is 5 weeks tomorrow. No loss pre op surg date 7/1. 15lbs week 1, stall week 2 and 3 and then a 5lb drop followed by another 6 lbs a few days later. I imagine I'll slow down for the next 2 weeks or so and then it'll pick back up again.

You're doing fine. Everybody has a different journey. Everybody will lose differently. So just stick to the plan abd We'll all get to the finish line together.

Excellent comments here. It all boils down to what you are comfortable with! Me, I work to not lie in all aspects of my life. But this one is just not simple for some people! For me, I tell whoever I feel will not pass negative judgement that could hurt me. Those others, I draw a fine line and say I am eating very little, drinking Protein shakes and exercising g my ass off. It doesn't feel quite right but is not a lie and I feel it is safer for me. Do what feels right.

@@4u2nvyme,

You can always tell the truth. You can tell as much of the truth as you like. For example, how about telling people you lost weight by being super careful about your portion sizes and the types of foods you chose? You could add that you’re eating slower and focusing on Protein. You could mention that you are skipping the fast food and sugary foods. There are so many truthful things you can say without even hinting at weight loss surgery when you don’t want to.

Congratulations on your loss so far and on people starting to notice! That has to feel great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
