Co-pays and deductibles

Recommended Posts

Make sure you check your co-pay and deductible if you have one. I received a call and follow-up letter from the billing department from the hospital where my surgery will be performed. I was told I had about $1,600 still to meet my deductible and with my percentages I would need to pay about $2000.00 prior to my procedure. I checked myself and based on my calculations it would less than 1000.00. Went for my pre-op today and had them re-work the numbers, billing came back with about $1,200.00. I with the help of the office staff in the bariatric practice, insisted that they re-check again, and wouldn't you know I was right. My co-pay was $900.00.

How far in advance did they call? I know ive not met my deductible because my insurance increased this year and all my visits were done last year.

Odd thing tho...the first surgeon I was going to wanted 2 grand. The surgery types were different but that's a huge difference. My current surgeon wants 500 at my last visit, and this is after they've done my insurance. Im so lost but afraid to ask from fear of them checking deeper and going we want all this money right this second. My surgery is next Thursday I received my pre registration call from the hospital but they didn't indicate anything about payment either.

I think this is one bull Im just going to have to ride down to the wire because I can't risk bringing a mistake they've to their attention made until after they've cut me open.

It's never too late, until its too late

What I found to always watch for when using in-network providers. They like to request payment based on there billing amount rather based on the fee schedule they agreed upon with the insurance company.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
