I was thinking of possibly starting over with the surgeons office dietician. I don't think they take insurance for it though but it may be worth it.

My BMI now is 38.8. I hate that the surgeons office won't submit for an authorization from AEtna until after I have done everything because aetna will tell me nothing so I will like I am running in circles. :(

Call the insurance coordinator at your surgeon's office and ask if she can help you figure out detailed requirements. Some plans make you start over (with supervised diet) if you've gained at all. It all depends on your specific plan.

If they submit before you complete your program they will deny you for not completing the program. Don't get discourage. Make sure you don't gain anymore weight and complete the program and all of Aetna's requirements. Don't let anyone discourage you if I did I wouldn't be where I'm at now. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

Thank you. I am allowing myself to feel defeated but I will not quit! Thanks for the motivation.

I have Aetna and was denied the first time because of this. I was required to do six months of nutrition visits and they took the weights from my first appointment and my sixth. I had gained one pound and was denied over it! It's definitely important to be in the right mind set, having to redo those six months of visits really made me change my way of thinking and eating!

I am actually switching from the nutritionist I picked and going with the surgeons office. It's only a 2 month set back but I really feel like I will get better results this way. I want to get on the same scale so my measurements are always correct. Now I have to really focus on making sure the last weigh in is less than the first!

I had my surgeons appt last week and was told the last weight MUST not be more that the first one. You can gain 1 or 2 in the middle but the first and last must be the same or the last must be less. I am sure some pple hv been approved outside the requirements, but that's not the norm. I think someone asked about about the 3 months/6 months with Aetna visits...can't remember but, You can do either, my surgeons office will not accept the 3 months so unless I am willing to switch surgeons, it's 6 months for me. I am okay with that though, this is not one decision I would want to hurry through.

Good luck ladies and let's keep encouraging each other.

So when you weighed in the last time you weighed more than the first time you weighed?

Does anybody know if this is how it works for Cigna as well? My nutritionist never said anything. I asked her if I had to loose a certain amount and I got a straight no. But didn't mention anything

I'd imagine it's the same. You can remain the same or lose but you can't gain weight!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
