2 weeks post and feeling weak.

Recommended Posts

2 weeks today since I had WLS and I've felt weak and tired the whole time. I can hardly make myself take a walk. I'm taking Vitamins and Protein, but 64 ounces of Water is hard, because of the 1-1/2 hours without water for meals. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

It is very normal for people to feel exhausted and weak for several weeks after major surgery. Keep working on your fluids -- you may want to double check the rules with your bariatric practice, as most don't limit water/fluid intake so soon after surgery, especially if the only real nutrition you are getting is liquid Protein Shakes. Getting all your fluids in will definitely help you feel better, but time and rest are also essential for post-op recovery.

Definitely check with your surgeon. I thought the Water spacing was 1/2 hour before and after meals, but didn't think you had to space your Water and liquid Protein drinks in the two weeks post op. My understanding was to get the Protein and 64 oz of other Fluid in so as to not become dehydrated.

Waiting before/after eating to drink doesn't really apply quite yet... at 2 weeks, it is all liquids/pureed so it doesn't make a difference.

The rule is most useful when you're moving toward mushy foods... because you don't want the liquids to make you full and/or slide the food through your sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
