So I am 4 months out. I'm still taking in between 500 and 700 calories per day. I'm sure someone's going to go off on me about it but I'm truly scared to up my calories in fear of stopping losing. I'd like some feedback on not only how many calories others would recommend, but also how to up the calories without gaining. I'm not hungry and don't feel I need more calories, however I have heard enough on here to know that it could screw up my maintenance and I don't wanna do that. I just want to keep losing weight and be able to keep it off.

I appreciate you asking because I don't have much access to them, as I did it in Mexico. However, I looked back in an old email and it tells me calorie recommendations from beginning until the first year. Really good news, I'm totally fine! It says not to move up to 900 calories per day until 9 months out. I feel so much better! I just felt like I've seen so many people in here talk about eating so much more, that I thought I was doing something wrong. I'm glad I don't need to worry. Thank you for your help!

That seems low, but the most important number that you don't even mention is Protein. What is your Protein target? How are you doing at reaching your protein target?

From everything I understand nutrition and quality is MUCH more critical for weight loss than just keeping calories low.

What does your NUT say?

It's a little different not having the access to a Nut.

My minimum calorie intake is 600 and my max amount of calories is 800. She said that if I go over that I will stop losing. Most important thing is to reach the Protein and liquid goals. If you're exercising regularly shoot for 100gr of Protein and +64oz of liquid.

Get my fitnespal or something like it to keep track of your liquid and protein intake. If you don't have a smart phone you can access MFP from their website. (It's still free)

I am a little confused about your not having access to a NUT. Doesn't your surgeon offer post-op care? Just because they are in Mexico doesn't mean they aren't available via phone, email, etc.

If they truly aren't available to you, then find a local NUT who works with bariatric/post-WLS patients.

Thanks for your responses. Yes, I could probably email the nutritionist but haven't ever done so. My Protein goal is 60 grams per day and honestly I am usually a little low, but not significantly.

Thank you. I do use my fitness pal every day and log everything. Once I looked on my paper, it says for 4 to 6 months to stay at 600 calories, so I'm def doing that. I do track my protein and stay a little lower then goal but not a lot . Thanks for your response!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
