@@Heather I - I did buy some Julie fit pants from Loft today. They are "skinny" which are ankle pants and when I came out of the dressing room, the lady laughed. I said "what?!" She said "those are supposed to be ankle pants! They are capri length on you!" LOL! I actually liked the length of them. I am still a little self-conscious as they seem a bit tight but she assured me it wasn't, so hoping they will be ok. I tried on the Julie trousers though and it just didn't seem quite right. I am considering ordering them in Tall online and then I can return them if I don't like them....

Thanks again to all for all the great advice! I have always wanted to use a personal shopper but was intimidated. I may just try that - after plastics. For now, I have enough dresses and skirts to get me through until the winter. (Luckily "winter" is quite later here in Texas than for many of you.) Oh and I think I saw that The Limited actually does free personal shopping too. Of course their "Tall" pants are online only like most. I know once I find the style and cut I like, all will be good. Meanwhile, I will remain anxious about this job coming up. My life of leisure is ending too soon! AHHHHHH!!!!!

I haven't gotten to the point where I need a whole new wardrobe but I did have to go out and buy some new jeans and shirts because I had lost all of them in the move. I went to Ross and automatically got anxious and went to the plus section but it turns out I wasn't a size 26 in jeans anymore. This made me even more anxious because I had to ask a worker if they had any size 18 to 20 and I was afraid he would look at me funny. So, I know what you mean!

Actually, I had a job interview at my favorite store, Torrid, and I can't fit anything there anymore because everything hangs off. I didn't get the job but I'm sure it was because I mentioned my surgery.

I am posting this in the Emotional section because well, this "learning how to dress" thing is very emotional and anxiety causing for me! I got laid off 7 months post-op and though I had a new job, it was work from home. Now I am starting a new job next week, and not only do I need an entirely new wardrobe (because let's face it - the yoga pants and pjs I have been wearing the last 7 months aren't work appropriate :D ). Obviously, my work clothes from 7 months ago do not fit. And I have been good about buying new clothes all along (well good or bad - depending on how you look at it - my point being I refused to go around in clothes hanging off of me). And to add to my anxiety, I am returning to a job where I worked for 14 years (before my last job which was 7 1/2 years). Have lots of friends which is good, but I left there for a reason, so it feels a bit like moving back in with my parents. ^_^ But I digress...

Anyway - clothes shopping. Yesterday I went in to stores that I have always wanted to shop in - LOFT and White House Black Market. Mostly I just felt out of place. Like someone is surely going to tell me that they don't have anything there to fit me. And though I can suddenly fit in size 10's (much smaller than I thought I would be), the sizes in the store all seemed to be 2's and 4's and 0's. Talk about stress inducing! Dresses and skirts are working fine and will be mostly what I live in, but I need some tall pants (I'm 5'10"). I know that LOFT and Limited (and a few other places) carry these online but they all have all these different cuts with no descriptions - Julie, Marisa, Curvy, Ellie, Modern, etc. AHHHHH!!! I have to figure out which cut fits me first and then order the tall ones online. Seriously should not be this hard. AND it should be fun! I went in to J Crew yesterday and 1 lap around the store and walked out. Then I saw a Lucky Brand Jeans but made it to the door and then just turned around. So basically, in addition to finding clothes that fit, I am trying to figure out which store has the "style" that I like and/or want to portray. I have shopped from Lane Bryant and Avenue for so long that I knew what sizes fit and what styles I liked. This is a WHOLE new adventure.

I don't mean to be complaining. Trust me. It is exciting to pull out a size you never thought would fit and then even better have to go back and get a smaller size, but I never in my wildest dreams thought it would cause me such anxiety! (PS - yes I am seeing a therapist. THANK GOODNESS!! Had a long talk about the new job yesterday. Very glad I have her to walk through this with me.)

Not really looking for response or advice. Just needed to get that out there to others who might understand....

Suggestion... Subscribe to stitch fix. They will take the style you describe and your measurements and send you 5 clothing items. You then decide what you keep and what to send back. It may help you get back in the groove using a stylist.

Stitch fix looks soooooo awesome! But I can't seem to find any info on how expensive the pieces are. Can you share if you don't mind? I'm afraid of falling in love with pieces I can't really justify the monthly expense for.

Yes. The styling fee is 25. If you choose any of the pieces it credits toward them. They are approx 30$-90$. A little pricy but it may give you some ideas of what looks great. You can arrange a fix any time and do not have to do it monthly.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
