My surgery is July 27th. I'm in the process of ordering some different Protein powders. I needed some that didn't contain artificial sweeteners and you guys gave me some suggestions.

I just got thinking about the size of a Protein shake. To make them the way I really like, I use a bunch of crushed ice in the blender and it fills up a big cup. Even if you just mix them with Water or buy the pre-made. They usually are like 12 ounces.

How does that work with a newly sleeved person? I was thinking I can get my Protein in because I like Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and Protein shakes. How does that work? Does it take forever to get one down? I can't imagine sipping on the same shake for hours.

Just curious!

Initially you will only be able to sip a small amount at a time. That means you will probably want to cut your shake portions in half as well as possibly split that serving it into two cups. As far as shakes and Greek yogurt go, they are fine as sources of Protein but initially you may only be allowed Clear Liquids the first few days. Please refer to your Bariatric paperwork and dietitian for guidance.

You might not even be able to tolerate cold drinks. So don't be too married to the ice.

Also, when you have a large stomach you are trying to make shakes that fill you up. When you have a small stomach you are looking for the opposite. Your new stomach will be swollen and tight. You want things that are thin liquids and slide right through easily, so you can get the Protein to heal and not make your stomach work too hard.

Syntrax Nectars which are like Water are the best post-op imo, or anything else that is Water thin.

For the first 5 days or so I would sip throughout the day on one bottle of clear Isopure from GNC. I would pour about 2oz and put it back in the fridge until I needed more. It worked well, usually used about 1 bottle per day. Hope this helps some, good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
