These were recommended by the team for gas. OMG it saved my life. They're chewable, taste decent, and it works fast. I only had to take one. Now that gas is moving Lol

Has anyone else just randomly weighed a week after surgery? I went to my obgyn today and of course they weigh you. When I looked at the scale I was shocked. And once she found out that I'd just had surgery last Thursday she was concerned. I assume its not an issue but 20lbs in 7 days especially during my healing phase seems like a lot...but perhaps Im ova thinking it.

It's never too late, until its too late

I weighed myself the day I got home from surgery...3 days later...7 lbs heavier. I'm not worried. With all the bags of liquid they pumped through me I almost expected it. I'm going to the bathroom alot so I'm sure it will fall off eventually.

I was going to go get some gas x because that's what everyone talks about. But I actually like the taste of Tums so I think I'd prefer these. My surgery is 8/29 and I'm worried about the gas pains. Glad to hear you're feeling better.

I made it through! The pain afterwards was excruciating and I wish I had been prepared. They only give me enough pain medication to cut the edge off and then they make me walk. My mouth is like a cotton ball, but I'm feeling better now, I'm 10 hrs post surgery! Today I was reborn!!

I love the idea of being reborn, soon2bthinmiami. I hope all goes well. Good wishes to all who had surgery this week! Keep up the good work. It does get better. Going for my Pre op physical today. I can't believe this is finally happening. I feel like I'm walking in a dream. I keep waiting for someone to call and say whoops we mad a mistake you can't have the surgery. It just seems like I have been working for this for so long. Now my waiting an working is over It seems kind of anti climatic.

Finally made it home after about four days in the hospital. I'm actually feeling quite sad and depressed. It may sound crazy, but I kind of miss the hospital. Things are improving physically, but I really hope things start to improve emotionally soon. Has anyone else felt this way?

Well, I guess I will be joining the Sept. buddies. My surgery has been postponed. surgeon says he now wants me off Ibuprofen for a month! What I don't get is why didn't he say this a month ago when I was in his office! Why wait till 4 days before surgery to tell me this! I am so disappointed

Had my surgery done on 8/8/16. It's been 5 days and still quite sore, but not extreme pain. Been working on getting Protein and Water in. Had an awful experience in hospital with pain control. One nurse working night shift decided she would only give extra strenght tylenlol for pain management even through I was suppose to get more. My surgeon was not happy next morning. Other than that everything has been great a home. Can't wait for my journey to continue.

I felt that way. The additional round the clock support was nice. The high praises were nicer Lol I was in a private room and 2 family members worked there, one being the head nurse on my floor, so I always had visitors. Now it's me and my hubby. That's cool tho, he's been great, helping me out soooo much! It's awesome thinking about all of the changes that happened. I get all emotional. I recognize that I'm truly blessed!

I understand how you feel. I had to stop Naproxen. If I didn't tell them I was recently prescribed for pain that would've been a mess. All things are working toward your good. You wouldn't wanna bleed out on the operating table. Trust in the process.

Yes my surgery was the same day. Not much pain, but soreness from the staples pulling as the incisions heal. They gave me Dilaudid and sent me home with enough to last a while. I'm no pill popper, but I definitely need one right now. Smh

Here's an article that I found helpful regarding pre & post op diet and stages. Of course the info will vary from person to person and surgeon to surgeon, but this came very close to what I was instructed. Hopefully this helps someone...

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
