My largest Incision- hurts!

Recommended Posts

I had five incisions and they are all pretty small except for one of mine is --just a teeny bit longer then the other one , the incision is. And it's the only one that hurts more than the others. Everything is healing great but this one incision hurts and it has sharp pains in it . If I didn't have this one incision hurting everything would be great. Anybody else have the same experience ?

Hi Curlysue86,

Did you ever find out if it definitely is the largest incision thats hurting? I thought that my largest incision was what was hurting me the first night that I can home (second night post surgery). I soon discovered that there is a bruise present about 4 inches below that incision that was causing the sharp pain. My pain meds don't hurt. Honestly, there is no reason for me to take the pain meds any longer because my incisions do not hurt; only the odd bruise. I called a nurse who advised me to place a warm towel on the area for 15 minutes. It only helped a little. Everytime I move or try to walk this sharp pain occurs in the area of the bruise. It discourages me from walking but I'm trying my best to get up anyway. I'll be calling my surgeons office in the morning. I feel like I'm not making progress because this area is so painful as if someone is cutting me with a sharp knife.

I have pain from that area too, but I also found its not the actual incision, it's underneath it. Something inside is causing the stabbing pain. I have found that mine is starting to somewhat subside in pain. I'm 5 days post op.

My surgeon told me this pain was normal because of all the muscle they have to cut. Although the pain subsided after a few weeks for me, that spot was still slightly tender even at my six month follow up, for instance when sitting up after lying down. But check with your surgical team if you think it is unusual or gets worse, rather than better!

I am 5 days post op and two of my incisions sting like crazy! I can't wait for this pain to stop! Other than that, I have no other pains at all. Best decision I have ever made!

My surgeon said the same as Shrinking Violet -- the pain is due to cutting through the muscle. I have one incision, on the left, that is more bruised. He said they do a lot of the work from that one.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
