Options for my smoker?

Recommended Posts

Ok so do you use an electric smoker? I think I've talked hubby into getting me one for my birthday. Any recommendations on brand/features/etc?

I use propane. I'm a caveman at heart and I believe that man was meant to cook with flame. Nothing against the electric just my preference. Mine is the one commonly available at home Depot for about $180ish.

Cool! But it's a stand alone smoker not something you do on your regular BBQ grill?

Do you have to monitor it or do you set a timer and go?

This is the smoker. You have to watch your temperature on the meats that you are cooking. For example I usually do pork butt 160 degrees but brisket is 200 degrees. I always smoke at 225 degrees of smoker temperature. Obviously it takes longer to get hotter as well as with a larger piece of meat. I also use a wireless thermometer. You can see the probe and several of those pictures. I leave it in full-time and monitor it from the comfort of my sofa. You have to keep adding soaked wood chips every half hour to 45 minutes for the first half of the cook at a minimum. Some items like my brisket I pull and 160 degrees and wrap and heavy aluminum foil and then return it to the smoker to continue cooking to its ideal temperature. This creates more moisture than what you would have otherwise.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
