Your taste buds will change back soon. Just keep trying different things and then later swing back around and try all these again because your taste buds go through several changes and for most people go back to almost normal. Be patient and enjoy each phase, even this one.

I went through that phase too but it took quite a while to begin to like food again. The three most important things after surgery are to meet your Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because you body is converting stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight. So because you are having difficulty with Protein, this is one area that you need to work on. So keep experimenting until you find something that you can tolerate. You don't need to like it, only tolerate it.

For me that was Muscle Milk Light (vanilla Creme) Protein powder mixed with Water using a Ninja single serving cup blender. I blended in a half a banana to give it some taste. But many individuals have different taste. There are a lot of variety out there. So keep experimenting. I was lactose intolerant after surgery so I could not drink milk. But if you are not, you could even try drinking milk that has been fortified with extra protein by adding in powdered milk.

Give it some time and see if it doesn't get better. Some of the foods that I couldn't eat right after surgery are now ok for me. I would agree with the previous comments about not having to like something, just tolerate keeping it down. After lots of experimenting I have learned what kinds of Protein shakes I like (and yes, some of the powders that initially tasted not so great are now ok tasting, so just keep trying).

Protein Shakes are hard for me too... I'm 4 weeks out. I make myself drink one in the morning... then I may or may not have more. I did buy the Isopure Protein Drinks, and I'll drink those during the day if I need more Protein (they are not milky, more like a gatorade).

I'm trying to get more protein from food, but my stomach is still pretty sensitive, and I am limited on that. Most days I can hit the 60g of protein though. If i don't, I make myself have another Protein Shake, but I really dislike them right now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
