Afraid I will not qualify after 6 month weight loss program

Recommended Posts

Hey there!

I have my group intake appt on Thursday and am worried that since I barely qualify now (bmi is 36.7 and only proven comorbidity is high cholesterol) that after I do the 6 month weight loss and other testing... If I lose weight and my bmi drops they will tell me I no longer need surgery. Have you ever heard of this happening? I know I can lose the weight already. I have before a few times but its the keeping it off long term that gets me and its getting harder every time I try.

The dr uses your first weight in to summit to insurance. My was 40 and I lost 5 lbs in the 6 months and I still got approved. Just talk to your dr to make sure this is how they do it. Most dr's office will tell you right away what to do and what not to do, just ask them. My hubby is going through the process now with a different dr and they just told him not to lose anymore weight durning the 6 month process.

Good luck to both of you!!!!

Even if you don't get approve, there is an appeals process... As long as the doctor uses your first weight I think you will be good

Just dont give up, and if you do get denied, do appeal it. Im in the same boat, and worried I might get denied too. Ive already lost 21 lbs. My bmi is over 40. and I dont really have any comorbidity. I am almost borderline diabetic. I do take metformin the diabetic medication. every doc assumes I am, but im not. I do have back issues but not needing surgery.

im In WA. state on Medicaid- Amerigroup

My Drs office told me not to worry, they approve you based on your start weight. The 6 mos is more to show compliance than anything else. As long as you lose some weight wou should be fine

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
