Started this process last November, and I finally have my surgery date. I am set to have a rny at the University of Iowa hospital on August 9th. My surgeon is on vacation in June...so i have a while yet to wait. But having a date makes it so much more real!! Are their any other August folks out there?

Ooo its getting real now! The University just called to schedule pre op appts!!!

Maybe this is a weird question but I have a very attached Springer Spaniel, Clyde. I wonder if it would be a smart idea to kennel him for the first couple days home? I am a bit afraid of being accidentally jumped up on. He is the kind of dog that is very intuitive, he will know I dont feel well. But after a couple days in the hospital he will be very excited that i am home. My teenaged sons will be there to help me with eveything, but it might be easier to kennel him?

Agree with @@KristenLe the dog would probably be more upset going to the kennel and he could wind up sick... I'm concerned about how my little guy will be when I get home too but I'd rather not have his regular routine upset...Dog have an amazing ability to sense what's up... My guy is a lapdog, whenever wherever I sit he's right on my lap, hoping putting a pillow on my lap will either deter him from sitting on my lap or will make his sitting on my lap more bearable...

Thats so true. I work from home, so he and my little dog Scarlett are not used to being alone. And i would worry about them a lot. Thanks for the response!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
