unexplainable weight gain

Recommended Posts

feel frustrated and worried at the same time.. Just hit the one year mark with my sleeve. I'm 6'1 male and I was 179 lbs but for the past 10-14 days days I have gained 6 pounds but nothing has changed from my routine. I do my intake of Protein (70-90g), Water (64-80oz), exercise (2 hour walk) but it seems strange to me and odd that i have gained weight when nothing has changed. i don't want to start worrying about something being wrong with my sleeve but any feedback from all of you out there is much appreciated. I know that it is normal to fluctuate with +/- pounds but for almost two weeks now i just been gaining weight and it does not show sign of coming down.

I do suffer from Constipation but i have it under control. Don't have anything else or taking any medication that will trigger holding of Water weight. I have a nutritionist that i follow up with. don't know if i should pay her a visit. I'm scheduled to see my surgeon in 2 weeks if by then this does not get better i will for sure address it with him.

that sounds like a good plan. If you were concerned about holding Water, I'd want to see someone sooner, as it can be indicative of a medical problem, but since you are not concerned about that I'd keep following your plan for the two weeks, maybe change up your workout a little bit and see what happens. Let us know how you are doing and what they say.

In my opinion NUT's are one step above used car salesmen. If your intake (calories) is not increasing, your output must be decreasing. That could mean caloric burn or using the bathroom. Make sure your Fluid intake is high as well.

used car salesmen. bahahaha! I love it. I do not get along with my NUT, but it doesn't bother me in the least to disagree with her, as my surgeon usually gives me the same advice I was thinking was right to begin with. I was sure hoping other people were having better success with their own NUTs.

Have you had a lot of sodium or noticed any swelling? If you were a woman I would assume Water retention, since you are a man that may not be the right answer.

Definitely talk to your surgeon about it when you follow up.

In the meantime, try upping both your water and your Protein a bit.

Get in sooner. That's a lot of weight for a man if everything actually is as you described. You may not know you are retaining Water yet. Too many medical issues with unexplained weight loss/gain that could need immediate attention. Call when they open next.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
