Net carbs vs actual carbs ....

Recommended Posts

So I found a recipe for making Quest bars into Cookies. My partner has a taste for chocolate chip cookies and I thought I would use the Quest bar cookie recipe to try it out.

So I was checking the nutrition info and it has 20g carbs but...

4 net carbs because 20g - 14g fiber- 2 g erythritol =4g net carbs

So which do you count ? Carbs or net carbs?

I'm torn on this one....also, has anyone tried the cookie recipe???

There will be a lot of people on both sides of this and the thing to do is find what works for you. For me I count total carbs and keep below 25 for the most part.

I will add the other side, I count net carbs. I've done just fine with that. But that said, that's typically only a thing with processed foods and I don't eat a lot of those in general. Basically Quest products and some low carb tortillas I use and I don't use the tortillas often.

I have always counted net carbs and it works a charm.

My dietician has me on what she calls the 10/10 rule... 10g or less of fat and 10g or less of sugar... hard to argue with my preop weight loss. But like others have said, do what works for you.

Total carbs for me. The net carbs do produce a slight blood sugar spike so they are not neutral as some people may think.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
