What should I be doing ?

Recommended Posts

I am only in the beginning stages , 2 weigh ins out of four completed and most of my ins criteria completed, getting ready to submit to ins in a few weeks. My surgeon hasn't mentioned a pre op diet yet ( I'm assuming it's too early) obviously I'm not the greatest dieter!! That's not a secret. What should I be doing ?? I have def been thinking before I eat , and have been drinking Water and exercising , but I seem to be having a food funeral at least every other day . When did everyone start seriously reducing food intake ?? Do you just start the pre op diet cold turkey ??

What I did at that point was focus on good habits.

I could only walk 20 minutes 3-5 times a week. do a little yoga.

I started paying attention to what I ate. Worked on getting plenty of Water. I gave up soda. I did have some foods I knew would either not be on the menu again or would not be the same. That's normal!

I did not have a pre-op diet, as my liver was small enough.

Sounds like you are on the right track!

I'm on month 2 - and I'm attempting to eat similar to how I will need to after surgery. My NUT wants me to do 50% Protein/50% Produce for my meals. She has me paying attention to labels - ensuring what I eat has less than 5 gms sugar and 5 gms fat. Be mindful of what you eat - eat slowly and not in front of TV or computer (this isn't easy for me). I'm also working on emotional eating issues. If you drink soda - you may want to cut back or give up before surgery. The NUT told me I should eat until I'm satisfied (but not full) and not to pay attention to calories. I'm also supposed to drink at least 64oz of Water a day. I'm going to try doing this all until surgery (but I'm not trying to be obsessed about it).

When i made the decision to actually have surgery i started making little changes. Tried to drink more Water, tried to replace a few breakfasts a week with a Protein shake. Yes I binged here and there and occasionally indulged. I did not exercise before and I don't exercise now. I got my sleeve eight months ago and have lost 175 lbs just by changing my eating habbits

Yes surgery is a lifetime commitment and you need to be prepared completely for that. Maybe see if there are any support groups near you and take your husband and go to a meeting or two.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
