Hi everyone!

My VSG surgery is scheduled for 5/18 after beginning the process the first week of January. Not too long, but seemed longer in the middle of it! lol

My question is: Is there a basic "bag" of stuff that's recommended to pack for your hospital stay? I've read loads of people definitely say Chapstick is a must!

Any suggestions much appreciated! Thanks!

@@QuinnsMum - Welcome!

I don't know about your particular needs but I wore in what I wore home, comfy loose pants/shirt, sports bra, etc. I only took my cell phone charger and cell phone, clean panties, deodorant, toothbrush & paste, glasses, contact lens case & pillow. They pretty much provided everything else. I walked the floors in hospital attire and the gripped footies they provided. I wasn't allowed anything to drink until the leak test the next day.

I was really thankful for the pillow (hug to your tummy) on the way home. I had chapstick and never used it - but I did use my pillow for sleeping and hugging :D

Took one of these http://teddy-tech.com/product/bari-buddy/

Some people take their favorite pillow.

Other than that, I took way too much stuff. I mostly slept and watched tv for the two days I was there. My toiletries would have been enough. Believe us about the Chapstick. Your lips will be sooooooo dry.

I agree with @@Miss Mac, I took way too much as well. Chapstick, toiletries, cell phone and most important for me was a pair of slippers I could just slip my feet into without help....that is all I would have needed. Good luck on the 18th, you will do great!

I just had my surgery on 5/4. The things I used in the hospital were my chapstick, my cellphone, cellphone charger, license and insurance card, hair brush and elastic, and a pillow to lay across my abdomen. I wore yoga pants and a loose t-shirt and that was also what I went home in. I was provided with non slip socks, toothpaste and toothbrush, things to shower(i did not shower at the hospital). After my surgery which was at 10:30am, I did not wake up fully until 7pm and that was when I was transferred to my room. I walked around that night but I was in and out of sleep most of the time. The next day I walked around a lot and was ready to be discharged in the afternoon. I didn't even have time to watch t.v. good luck with your surgery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
