Family on board for Mexico?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, still in the research phase. Looking to self pay in Mexico. Having a really hard time getting my hubby on board with the idea. I would appreciate any research resources that may help get him a little more comfortable with the idea. Thanks!

My husband was reluctant at first but once I decided on my surgeon and where I wanted it done and presented my case I won him over.

This gentleman filmed his journey at a Hospital Angeles where I got my surgery done, the only difference was my room was much bigger.

I think having your husband read posts and reviews from patients of whichever surgeon you settle on might set his mind at ease. If he sees the personal experiences of others who have gone through the exact same thing you are about to, it might seem less scary to him. Also, feel free to have him PM me or to PM on his behalf. I have been to Mexico twice for surgery (once for VSG and once for plastics) and will be going there again in September for a second round of plastics, so I have personal experience I'd be happy to share. Even if I had a different surgeon than you choose, I can at least provide some insight into what to expect in Mexico.

Your best resource is right here at Bariatric Pal. They offer it all and are so easy to deal with. Once you get in touch with them they are right there at the end of your computer or by phone. You can have skype chats with them and the Drs you might consider. Hope your husband gets on board mine did after 5 yrs of not wanting me to do it!

Hey Jdubwife! I would love to speak to you about our experience in TJ win Dr Illan and Bariatric Pal team MX! My husband went with me. He would be willing to speak to your husband as well. We had a wonderful experience. Like a vacation. I would love to answer both of your questions. It was the best experience ever.

I realized when I was there why the infection rates were so low...they have huge rooms, they mop three times a day, and they don't cram the room with equipment which isn't as clean as we'd like to think in the states. If you don't have any conditions which makes for complications, get it done in Mexico. The people are nice, language is a small barrier but not huge. Now I would not say the same for plastic surgery, that is very different and I will shop for the best surgeon because that is as much art as it is science.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
