Medicine Absorption ?

Recommended Posts

Anybody else out there have trouble with medicine absorption? I have noticed when I have to take ABX for a sickness that the meds never seem to work. I tried liquid and a shot and that did seem to help a while back if I remember correctly. But wondered if there was something I need to know or tell my regular doctors about. I have an abscess tooth right now and I took regular tablet ABX and the pain never truly went away. Wondering if I need to always get liquid? Any ideas about this? Please help!

Thanks,

Leigh Ann

Hard to tell but most antibiotics are absorbed in the duodenum. Shouldn't take long for them to get into your system but antibiotics don't work as well as they used to. Mostly because germs and virus strains have developed immunities to many ABX. Maybe try another ABX?

ABX will only reduce pain if they do what they're intended to do and usually days after taking them. And only because they're killing germs or allowing the body to heal itself.

I had the RNY in August of last year. Then, in December of last year, I got an impacted wisdom tooth out, and I discovered soon afterward that I no longer absorb hydrocodone! That was an extremely unpleasant trip to the ER, dealing with a fresh wisdom tooth extraction and no pain medication. They switched me to oxycodone, which worked perfectly for some reason (something about where in the digestive tract it is absorbed vs. the hydrocodone... strange!) The oxycodone that worked for me was in a pill form too. I think it's less about needing a liquid and more about having a med that is not absorbed in the stomach, because our stomachs are just too small and things pass through them too quickly now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
