  4. Anybody else out there have trouble with medicine absorption? I have noticed when I have to take ABX for a sickness that the meds never seem to work. I tried liquid and a shot and that did seem to help a while back if I remember correctly. But wondered if there was something I need to know or tell my regular doctors about. I have an abscess tooth right now and I took regular tablet ABX and the pain never truly went away. Wondering if I need to always get liquid? Any ideas about this? Please help! Thanks, Leigh Ann
  5. I was sleeved on Nov 27th- I had one week of liquids/shakes and then on day 8 I started with pureed diet- I have 2 tbsp of egg beaters with a tinybit of cheese-then blend it up real small in my blender. i can even have meat (chidken and tuna so far) if I puree it good in the blender. Have been eating baby food fruite and veggies too. I'm actually scared I'm eating too much because it's all going down just fine- I'm surprised really. So I'm gonna slow it down alittle after hearing most people don't start pureed so soon- why are all docs so different? I don't want to cause a leak or something in my new tummy. Now I'm afraid I've done too much!! Ughhh How much time is eveeryone taking off from work?

Yes! I go thru this thought process almost everyday too... It's a big deal and it's very drastic, but I keep on with it - like some one said once, when you have faith, even though your scared... you just do it scared!! And trust that all will be fine. I know it all won't be wonderful after surgery- there surely will be things I don't like afterward, but I am getting Diabetes now, I don't like that either and I want to be healthy and I have to keep reminding my self of the reasons i'm doing this. But you are not alone for sure. In the end, I just know it's gonna be great for the overall health of us and we are doing the right thing... Thanks for sharing your thoughts

  14. Hi everybody! I'm in Florida and I'm scheduled for Nov 27th! Excited but I had my nutritionist appt yesterday and she was so negative and so serious telling me I will never ever be able to eat certain things again, can't chew gum cause I might swallow and have a blockage, would prob lose my hair... etc.... wow what a downer..... I have been discouraged since but am trying to remember why this is best for me. She just made it sound so awful it is making me doubt my decision. I know this is right and will love not ever having to worry about gaining weight again! I know there's gonna be some hard things about it, but I will be healthy again and after a few months or so I should be able to eat things I like, just small amounts. So now that I've vented...... yes, I'm excited to join this November Sleevers group! haha Sorry I had a lapse of sanity for a moment. Good luck to us all!!
  15. I just read your post and I just wanted to say Congratulations to you! You sound like everything is going fine and you are determined and commited to this process. I know you are gonna do great!! Blessings to you and the rest of your new wonderful life!
  16. Hi Velena, I;m a newbie and I haven't had my surgery yet so am reading everything like crazy on this board to learn as much as I can. I am concerned about the post-op diet too and you mentioned your having a little bit of a tough time. Can I ask why? I don't understand why it would actually "hurt" to drink a liquid, oh please explain, I'm so nervous right now-Is it just because your stomachs trying to heal and it hurts when anything touches it? Any advice would be appreciated. I hope you feel better very quickly!! Thanks! Leigh Ann
  17. Thank you- I feel better- You're right, I'm not gonna worry-It will be fine... Good Info- I will go to GNC and see. Thanks again!
  18. Thank you! I am just beginning-although I've been thinking about it for prob a year.... I've gone to their seminar, and been to a support group and got alot of good answers there. Tonight I'm fillling out my paperwork and next step is consult w/the doctor-then psych, nutritionist and I'm off for the surgery!! What are your major concerns about this? I think mine might be what I will be eating after the surgery-I've heard we may not have anything but liquids/shakes/broths for up to a month and one report said it may be up to 12 weeks!!! Wha??? Is that true? I'm sure I can ask the doc when I go for my consult, but just wondering if you knew?? Also I'm alittle concerned about staying hydrated- have you heard anything about that? Thanks, Leigh Ann

  21. Hi "Sleeven-John" - (i saw that last post-its a cute nick name from Junior - hee) I too am new to this and am where you are... I have been considering when I am gonna commit and do this thing. I have finally decided I am going to do it!! So excited I made my decision. I have been postponing it, but the more I learn and read, it makes such sense for us to do this. I have some scarey thoughts about what it will be like afterwards, but those are just worries, I'm sure the good will outweigh the bad in the end. Our life is gonna improve sooo much in so many areas. I wish you well... Leigh Ann
  22. I haven't scheduled my surg yet-but getting close. I am concerned as well about how much time I will have to take off. Realistically, should it be 1 week or 2 weeks? Why is recovery so long?
