So Thursday I finally got my date for my surgery May 12th. I was so excited but it seems like my family wasn't. My husband, dad and aunts are trying to make me change my mind. I explained that this is my decision and you either with me or against me. So I guess they are slowly coming around. My husband tells me oh I love you just the way you are. I understand that but this is about me and my new journey.

Please, take all the time you two need to get to the same mind set. It is soooo important that you go into WLS as you did your marriage--together.

I'm sure he has his fears, just as you have yours. Try to find a way to ease his. If you do, I guarantee you that most of your fears will be lessened.

I will repeat my wish that all S.O's should be required to have a therapist eval/session separate from their partners. This way his/her fears, concerns and trepidations could be verbalized and consulted.

After WLS, you WILL change. You will NOT be the same in a year post-op. We who have had WLS know that we will be healthier, and better, but do our S.O.s have that conviction?

They love you just as you are. Maybe they don't want you to change. It's too scary. Will they still be appealing to you. Will you still be appealing to them??

Sooo many questions. Who's going to hear them? When do our S.O.s get to air their fears, and/or frustrations?

So, I ask you, PLEASE have more patience and understanding than you think you have. Have many meaningful conversations. Try, then try, then try some more to help him come to terms with your upcoming WLS.

I PROMISE you, you will not regret it, my friend.

Prayers going up for you both.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
