Any ER nurses go back to work 2 weeks after Sleeve?

Recommended Posts

So I work in a busy ER also. My Dr told me I should be ok to go back at two weeks. I am planning on taking 3 weeks off as of right now. We are so so busy! I am worried about getting Fluid in not to mention lifting bending reaching grabbing stretching "half running" etc. want to know how everyone else has done at 3 weeks. I don't think 4 weeks will be an option- maybe. Maybe one week in triage??? Could u go back at 3 weeks?

I definitely understand the half running.. at my hospital (like many hospitals), us respiratory therapists are usually clear on the other side of the hospital or in dungeon. Lol.. so we usually have to hall ass to every emergency!

I totally get it. That is one of my many concerns and when it's really busy and u can't even breath how r u going to eat slowly and sip Water. Plus what about if u have to do CPR. I know someone's done this and been successful so like u I need to know how. ????

I went back at two weeks after my sleeve and had full clearance. I felt great, and even working over nights I was ok doing full time work. I work with an amazing team of people who all know I had surgery, so I've been in triage a lot, and everyone is super helpful and won't let me do any heavy lifting. I've not been having issues eating or getting Fluid or Protein, but one day I was a bit dehydrated, my heart rate was way high after walking just a little, was able to get rehydrated and back to work quick

Hey how are u doing now? My surgery is in 2 weeks. Was 2 weeks enough time for u to be off looking back or did u need more? Our ED is really busy and there is no guarantee I'll get triage. If I request it I might get 4 hours max. I'm requesting to be sent back to 8's and not 12's for the first couple months. We will

See. Please let me know. Thanks. I want to ask for what I need right away.

I work in a super busy ER as a tech and plan on taking off only two weeks which my surgeon has ok'd. An RN coworker of mine took a month off and said that she could have come back in about 3 but enjoyed the extra week off.

Thanks for the input. I'll let you know how I do. Like u I'm just worried about the hustle. The bend, stretch, reach, transfer, lifting, etc. not to mention how to find time for fluids. Lol. I guess everything will just work. I'll let u know. My surgery is in 3 weeks exactly.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
