To much weight loss

Recommended Posts

So I was in the timeline section and was reading that at least a good handful of the men have had issues with losing to much weight. As a women I know it is harder for us to lose weight with or without the surgery. Our bodies just work differently. Are there any veteran band to bypassers that have had that problem?

Both my husband and I are nervous I will lose to much with the bypass. Everything i have read has stated that bypass is more for extreme weight loss but with the band I lost over 100lbs and really only have about 60lbs more to lose but I know I can't just go without any help. The bypass is my surgery of choice due to my reflux issues.

Although some individuals report too much weight loss after RNY gastric bypass surgery, I don't believe this problem is very common.

It is somewhat common for some individuals once they get into the maintenance phase after surgery to regain some or all the weight back. It means that once you lose the weight you have to continue working at maintaining the weight that you lost. Generally that means exercise and avoiding grazing.

I have been in maintenance from a sleeve to bypass revision since January. I am currently 7.8 pounds below my target weight. I am not trying to lose more it just happened. I beleive my body will know when I have gotten to its' set point.

I was going to say the same as @@James Marusek. Bypass will really help you with maintenance. You will just need to be sure to work continually with a NUT and may have to increase your calories faster than some. For what it's worth, I have never lost 30 pounds a month or any of the other crazy numbers people quote. I lost fairly steadily at 12-15 pounds the first few months and then 10ish pounds per month. I am 10 1/2 months post-op and down 110 pounds since surgery. You will just get to goal and move on to maintenance quicker than most of us are able to.

Thanks guys. I was really successful with my band. I lost 160lbs before I had to have it removed. The bypass is really so much different the. What I learned when I was banded, it is reassuring to hear that it will help for the long term goals.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
