I had my surgery two days ago. My surgeon fixed a hernia. I cannot burp. I get the pressure build up but it will not release...has this happened to anyone? If so what would you do?

You don't actually have to burp, you are feeling the effects of swelling. We all go through the same thing.

It's annoying but it will go away with time.

Even when you do manage to burp you'll find it won't really do any good. You'll feel like you still need to do it again. As the swelling goes down that side effect goes away. :)

I think it was 2-3 days, not long.

As for the burping, if I eat something wrong and PB I get swelling, if there is swelling I still get the feeling I want to burp but can't. It only lasts an hour or so and it's gone.

Hi Sweet,

I had my surgery on 8/6. I felt that way too. However, I discovered one night as I leaned over my twins to kiss them in bed, that the angle I was at was VERY conducive to burping! I was kind of stretched out across them, and all of a sudden it just all bubbled up. I felt ever so much better. So, I've been stretching out across a bed a few times a day, just leaning in over a bed that's at knee level or so. I was also able to cough up some of the junk in my chest that way.

Hope that helps a bit. I'm 5 days out now and starting to feel a bit better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
