The wonderous Impacted feces

Recommended Posts

So, basically have a little step stool in the bathroom to put under your feet so it changes your posture and position of the colon so your bowels work better. I'll put this on my "remember" list.

I bought mine after the fact, and wish it was before. I had problems in the past when I switched to completely healthy eating. So I knew going in it was going to be an issue.

@Sanju I did pray and do a little tribute on your behalf. LOL I am glad you were able to find some relief.

Guys you don't have to buy it, you can use any step stool you have at home :)

Love your name, of course, and you are correct, you don't have to buy one. But the squatty potty has the curve where it can go around the pedestal of the toilet, so I leave my there and don't worry with the moving it to and from (space saver), and my issue is ongoing so I use it frequently. But again if you have a step stool and want to use that, then by all means.

It's the Protein that causes Constipation. Take citrate liquid the one you took before surgery. Don't let it get to that point were you suffer. I have been there and it's horrible.

This happened to me on my 2 week post op (I'm 4 weeks post op)

Worst experience of my life, so I diffenitely sympathize with you. There was nothing that worked for me. I used stool softener, Miralax, milk meg and last a enema.

Thank God I had help removing this impacted... please go to the er if you haven't released. Last thing anyone needs is a bowel obstruction or something happening to your sleeve..

coffee has been my solution after..still a scary thought I never want to experience again

@@thinnerS - Protein alone, didn't cause mine, it was a combination of Iron supplements and the new menu for food in general. I am a veggie eater and I still miss that help with the vegetables.

@@KristyVSG - Coffee!!! me too!

This is good information. I have irritable bowel, so I have issues with this without adding even more causes. I'll be visiting a BB&B this weekend.

@@sanjumelts Did they prescribe Colace? Also, go with Miralax. I experienced this problem too, however, I didn't put forward quite the effort you are describing. I just figured it was par for the course.

Magnesium Citrate purchased over the counter at Walmart and most pharmacies. Drink half the bottle slowly, and you will have results. I was constipated and an enema and suppositories didn't work. So my Dr. recommended the Mag. Citrate. It comes in Cherry flavor and isn't too bad. But I was looking for results and didn't care about taste. Good luck!

It's not just the Protein it's also the pain meds that can cause it and we all got a healing dose of that stuff when we had anesthesia.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
