Hi guys!

I was prescribed percolate for pain every 6 hours. I was wondering if anyone took their pain meds in an as needed basis? Or followed the instructions? And how long did you guys stay on the medications?

The only pain meds I was own were what was given at the hospital. Nothing after I was discharged. Didn't need anything. Quite painless.

I have not gone through WLS yet but in my experience with other surgeries or situations involving pain management... Take them as prescribed (especially in the first few days) as once you stop the med and the pain sets in it is difficult to catch back up.

I was on morphine drip in the hospital, but didn't use the oxycodone script I was given to take home. I certainly felt pain, especially when getting in and out of bed the first couple of weeks, but I as able to manage it. I didn't want to be dazed and confused on the oxycodone if I could get by without it. I still felt something for the first 4 weeks, but after the first 2 weeks, I wasn't concerned about it.

You won't know if you really need it if you take it around the clock, unless you can feel it wear off before your next dose. That's why they have pain pumps that you can activate yourself in the hospital - if you don't need it, you don't push the button.

I work for a pain management doctor, and Percocet is prescribed "as needed for pain" in our practice.

I had my sleeve and a hiatal hernia repair done in the same session. I took my pain meds for 3 days after surgery ( I was done as an outpatient). After 3 days I was off meds and felt fine if a bit tired. Listen to your body and take the meds if you need them, If you don't need them don't take them. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
