I am no sure yet. I hope I'll find out more tomorrow. I have heard several different requirements with Kaiser alone. I have heard 3 month,6 month and no weight loss needed just tests and classes. I hope to clear some of this up this week.

Well definitely let us know what you discover! It's always very interesting to me to see the wide variety of hoops that different insurance companies come up with to make us jump through lol

MamaRhea- the upper GI is easy. In and out in about 30 minutes. They have you swallow barium quickly. And then take pictures standing and then you lay down for pictures and on your side, etc. they watch the barium go down I was in and out in 30 min.

Hi Sarah!

Looks like we will be having our procedures at about the same time! The 20 pound weight loss requirement may seem daunting, but I am sure you can do it! From what I understand, we have to go on an all liquids diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery anyway, and if what I have read is correct, most people lose at least 20 pounds during those 2 weeks anyways. So that might make it easier for you lol.

Thanks! I think 20lbs won't be too hard. I've lost 40lbs repeatedly over the years, it just keeps coming back. The motivation this time is that once it's gone, it's GONE. :) This is such a weird feeling! Knowing that by this time next year, I'll be in a totally different place with regards to weight and health. So exciting!

Yes! I have these moments that I think, Wow...next summer I can finally wear shorts and a tank top. I am so excited because I finally have some hope of getting this weight off for good and keeping it off.

@@Amurillo04 I'm 47 years old and only starting on my WLS journey. I wish I took this step when I was younger. No matter what diet of the month I was trying - I never lost "enough weight" and ended up gaining everything back plus a little more. Every year I found myself larger and larger - then I started with the health issues that go along with being obese and I finally kicked myself in the a@@ and said enough already - I need help - I can't do this on my own. Good for you for doing this when you are still young! :-)

Congratulations everyone on your journeys. I wish everyone the best of luck. I was really nervous when I started the process. I had a 3 month supervised weight management program to complete and had various appointments appointments. I am on the 4th day of the pre-op diet and scheduled to be sleeved 28 April 2016 so I am counting the days.

I agree. I am 54. Wish I had this option when I was 21. I had already spent my childhood overweight. By the time I graduated nursing school at 22 I was 244 pounds. My life has been wonderful, don't get me wrong. But your self esteem, your comfort level is so different thin. Good luck to all.

Hey I am almost on my 4th out of 6th appointment with my doctor and we should probably have the sleeve around the same time as my last appointment is the end of June. I would love to have a person to discuss my worries and excitement with :)

I just did the blood work, psyc, and nutritionist. Now need to do the meetings. And was told to practice eating one meal for 30 minutes.

My coordinator told me to do my blood work and upper gi toward the end of my 6 months because they only are valid for about a month for some reason lol. One of my problems is that I eat super fast I should try eating slower too

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
