Nausea in middle of night

Recommended Posts

Maybe I'm posting in the wrong area, sorry I'm tired. I am 5 days post op and I'm having terrible nausea in the middle of the night. I feel good all day but I wake up in the middle of the night sweating and nauseous. Sometimes I'll have a bowel movement. Has anyone else dealt with this? I know gastric bypass was something I needed to do but this makes me regret having it. :(

Dear Newbie,

I'm sorry about your nausea, but want you to know that from what I experienced, it's a normal reaction as your tummy learns to take in your nutrition in a whole new way.

I haven't heard from many RNYers that don't have some doubts during the first month or two. Be gentle with yourself, give it some time, and I think, and hope, that you'll feel much better soon.

Marin

ps I follow this site off and on, but this is actually the first time I've written anything. I think you're very brave to share your question at such an early stage in the process.

Good Luck!

I can't thank you enough for your reply. I am awkward with people in real life and pretty scared of a support group. Thought this might me a support group for me. Today was a better day.

First few weeks are the hardest. I am 12 years out & still glad I did it. When I had the surgery I couldn't eat solid food for 2 weeks then 2 weeks soft food. Stay away from microwaved meat even just warmed up. I can still throw up from dry meat getting stuck. Wish you the best and never regret getting healthier.

How are you doing? Any better? Have you been able to talk with the dr?

I dealt with really bad nausea for a while, still deal with it sometimes and I'm really sorry! Nausea meds can help. It might also be related to pain.

I think some nausea is normal. Especially like another poster said, the stomach is having to relearn everything.

Hang in there

Hey there. Much better. I'm now 7 weeks out and doing great. I had weird nausea for a few days just in the middle of the night but I think my biggest issue is that you don't really know what to expect after this surgery. Don't know how your personal body is going to react and I just got scared that something was wrong.

Glad the nausea passed!

It is hard to know because it can be so different for so many people. That is part of why I like this app. It helps me to figure out some things and from people who have gone through this before me.

Best of everything to you

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
