I have a "low" bmi but gained 40 lbs in the last 12 years while trying unsuccessfully to diet and excersize. My mother followed similar path and now is 70 morbidly obese high blood pressure you name it. This tuns in our family and Ive decided I am not going to wait. I consider this a proactive sleeve. Still I have my doubts but for the first time in 20 years im not stressed about my weight or my future weight. I feel like I have made a decision to take control. I watched my mom suffer her entire life and I don't want that. I found a great doc in texas ... Who understood why I wanted to do this. He said research shows once your 40 lbs overweight there is only a 5 percent chance I would permanently lose that weight. People lose but most gain it back plus.

Good for you! I started low bmi as well. I had run out of motivation to diet anymore. Every single time I gained it back. I knew over time I was only going to get heavier, so I went through with the surgery with a BMI of 29. Best decision EVER! Lower BMI patients typically have less complications, which was huge for me. The weight flew off and I hit my goal right at my 4 month post op mark (a couple of weeks ago). It's still coming off, too. Not sure where my weight will level off, but I feel amazing! I can't say enough good things about just nipping it in the bud, when possible, and not wait until you are older, heavier, and have possibly more comorbidities.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
