I'm having my surgery, gastric bypass, April 28 in Mexico. I want to start the pre op diet this week to make sure I don't screw it up. What diet has everyone done? Just shakes all day? 2 shakes and a salad? What types and brands of shakes? What Vitamin supplements does everyone use? Anyone use the Patches? If anyone has a daily schedule they used for the pre op diet that would be helpful also. I've read countless articles and websites and all can be just a little different. Any other helpful info you want to share would also be greatly appreciated.

#mburk72 mine was $6000 and they don't do insurance as far as I know they are an alternative for those of us whose insurance doesn't cover wls. Medical turism is a big thing in Mexico check out YouTube and just search bypass in Mexico there's a lot of info out there. I feel pretty confidant with my decision of doctors. Having it in the states was just out of the question for me because I would have been self pay.

Hey feeling skinny I'm 10 hours post op and doing pretty good. The place down here is clean and the bedside manner could not possibly be better. Language has not been an issue because the staff always has an English speaking nurse on duty. I am rooming with a nurse from California and she has also been impressed. I am sore but to me the worst thing is not being able to drink anything yet. We are doing that at 7am. Be sure to bring Chapstick and gas-x strips it helps. You can find those in a box at Walmart

You will do fine. I'm so impressed with the care they provide here and I am so glad I made this choice.

If you're driving to Mexico the 2 is closed at the border. If you're just going to Tijuana you'll be fine, if not make sure you know where you're going. To get to Rosarito it's a little more difficult right now. And be prepared for traffic getting into Mexico. (Usually there is only traffic coming out). We have a dentist that my SO goes to. It's so much less then the states. They speak perfect English and the offices are all just like ours. We live in So Cal, so we go down often. Good luck with all your surgeries.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
