I had my surgery two weeks ago. On first day home from hospital I was up 12lbs. I knew this was from all the fluids given in hospital. That weight was gone in two days. Then I lost 2lbs a day for three days. Then I have not lost anything and yesterday actually showed a pound gained. This has been discouraging but I have my post op appt tomorrow and hoping to get some answers. I do think I was not getting in enough calories even though I was getting in 70 grams of Protein and 64 ounces of Water I was still at only 600 calories a day. Has anybody else had this experience?

My surgery was 3/15 also and I have lost 21 lbs. But haven't lost anything in the past few days. Gained a pound and was hoping it was due to my girlfriend being here (time of month) but not I'm not so sure. I have been eating by the book. I don't know what to do to get back in weight loss mode. It's too early for a stall. Right?

The absolute worst thing you can do is compare yourself to others. The second worst thing is to obsess over the numbers on the scale. If you follow the plan, you WILL lose. You don't need a scale to make that happen and the rate at which you lose has Nothing to do with your long term success. I lost over 100% of my excess weight and I don't even OWN a scale!

But since you asked....lost 22 pounds on my preop. Down 100 pounds at 9 - 10 months postop (not sure exactly when since I don't own a scale). Still down 100 pounds at 27 months out. That's what matters, not how much I lost the first few months. Think in terms of the rest of your life and it'll make all the short term stuff a lot easier.

I agree with @Kindle. How much we lose and how fast is such a relative number.

How well are you doing at reaching your Protein and Fluid goals?

That said, my one year Surgiversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and have lost over 200 pounds.

Thats great that you don't need a scale, but it's how I hold myself accountable. And I like those scale victories!!! Every 5 pounds down makes me so happy. But I don't compare myself to others...that just creates unwanted stress! As long as I am equal or less every week I have a huge smile on my face! And don't forget those NSV, fitting into a new size of pants makes me ecstatic too!!! Good luck and enjoy your weight loss!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
