Possible Complication?

Recommended Posts

In my research about the DS, I found a blogger who recounted her experience with leaking from her belly button for MONTHS after the surgery.

Is this common? There's so little information about the DS out there, that I'd love to know what complications might arise.

Leaking from the incision near the belly button is possible while healing

I guess it could happen with any lap abdominal surgery. I don't know of it being common with the DS, though.

She was talking about pretty serious leakage. Fluid and solid "fat" bits. Enough to fill a maxi pad she'd covered her belly button with and then to leak all over her bed. It kind of freaked me out, to be honest.

Never heard of such a thing. It might be better to research actual data across populations on a site like medline. Horror stories do happen, but not to most of us.

Not normal at all at that amount. That sounds more like she got an infection

that seems very unusual for any laproscopic surgery. A small amount from the site is okay but anything like that needs a closer look. Pubmed research states less than 3% major complications following DS, similar to the other bariatric procedures

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
