Those LAST FEW POUNDS!

Recommended Posts

I am 8 months out from surgery and down 106 lbs.... Yes I am extremely happy..... But bouncing between 171-174 lately and it's driving me NUTS! I don't cheat EVER.... I am 5'5 and would like to get to 125 lb but when I check the height weight charts it says I should weight 140-150 ..... So for anyone who was within 20-30 lb to goal.... Was it harder to loose those last pounds?

For me it was, and I never actually did lose the last 20. I was so obsessed with reaching a normal BMI, but I just never could do it. I don't think its in the cards for everyone. I've gotten over that. I've had three drs tell me I'm good, I wear a size 8, so I've accepted it. I'm 53, so that doesn't help.

However, I lost for 14 months. But it slowed down around month 8. My guess is that you are just at a plateau, and it will start coming off again. Just keep doing what you are doing. Just a couple pounds a month adds up! Hang in there!

Lexuskela - I'm not at goal, but I am finding this last bit of weight to be a real stickler.....much harder to lose. For about 6-8 weeks I've bounced between 198 and 196. I think the scale is finally moving again and I'm down to 194. It's moving, but very slowly. I'm very happy with the weight I've lost so far, but I would like to get to my goal. I'm also reviewing my goal. I'm not convinced 165 is the right weight for me. At this point I would be thrilled to get to 175. We shall see what my body says! Good luck.

I'm in the same boat - 12 months out, and floating between 171 and 175. I want so much to get to the middle of my normal BMI range, which would be 145 - 150 (I'm 5'8"). The Bariatric surgeon was very happy with my progress and told me he would consider me successful even if I didn't lose any more. I wonder if I've internalized that message and that might be why I am not as on point as I was before. I'm getting back to basics and trying again, though.

I am doing the same thing down 102 from HW and hoping to get to the 160's. I revisited the goal I had originally listed and because I really don't want to look completely "melted" I will keep an extra 10 or so on the ole body (53).

I see my dr on 5/3 and will be 3 days short of my surgiversay. I hope to be below 170 (10lbs). My weight loss has slowed tremendously with a long stall (12wks) and I know I am to blame for that.

I have started weighing out everything and with the warmer weather I am hoping to get some more exercise on the weekends - mowing the yard, bicycling, walking my dog...

Yes. The smaller the numbers got, the more slowly the pounds came off. Can you try mixing up your exercise routine? Sometimes that jumpstarts things for me.

My experience was ... just be consistent (don't change what you've done to lose weight thus far) and be patient.

Doesn't matter if you lose 2 pounds or even 1 pound a month.

I lost 19 pounds pre-op, and the following numbers are my monthly weight losses in the 19 months post-op:

-10.4

-11.8

-9.2

-10.4

-6.8

-5.0

-6.2

-4.4

-3.8 (reached goal this month)

-1.8

-2.6

-0.6

-1.2

-1.0

-1.6

-2.0

-1.4

+2.0

-2.0

Thank you so much. This makes me feel so much better knowing I am not alone or crazy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
