Post op poop! Please share your poopie stories

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am 6 days post gastric bypass surgery. Before surgery I was required to drink lots of milk of magnesia while on a 2 day clear liquid diet. I pooped and pooped like crazy. Now I'm post op, drinking Clear Liquids only and 1 clear protien a day. But I haven't pooped, I feel like going sometimes and have gas but no poop.......Id love to hear what everyone else is experiencing so I can compare!!

Once you start having full liquids you should start having bowel movements. There's just not likely much of anything to come out.

I haven't gone through this yet, but I imagine it's just because you are clear.

Like the poster above me said, you're likely not going to have any bowel movements for some time. You're not taking much of anything in that can be formed into a solid mass. I think it was about 2 weeks after surgery when I had my first movement....and it wasn't much.

Tip: don't strain and try to force something to come out. This can cause some issues "down there!"

I went 12 days after surgery, I tried almost everything, but I may have had a tiny blockage, I became nauseous at the same time, first day normal 2nd day not so normal more liquid than solid , but that may have been from the stool softener and whatever else I took to help me go, my nurse said as long as I wasn't in pain that it will happen and I'll be ok

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
