Losing too much weight! Help

Recommended Posts

Hi I am new to this and I know someone would say what do she mean by losing too much weight!!! Well I was sleeved in July 2015 and was only 202lbs. I just wanted to lose maybe 50lbs total. For 5 months I could not keep any food down and I would vomit all the food with mucus every time I ate. I had several dilations and nothing seem to work. By December 2015 I had lost 60 pounds. I wasn't looking and feeling unhealthy. I finally went to get a second opinion and they did another dilation. They told me I was losing too much weight too fast and they were concerned. This dilation seem to have worked and I can keep the food down but still vomiting mucus. Why am I vomiting mucus???? I have lost another 10 pounds and counting. I am not to happy. I am really thin. Please help?

Vomiting mucus is caused by food getting "stuck" or having a blockage in your esophagus. Your body over-produces mucus to try to flush out the blockage. Are you experiencing this with liquids or solids? When eating solids do you eat very slowly and chew thoroughly?

Wow. My mother has been very nervous about losing too much weight, but she hasn't had the esophageal issues that you have--that sounds terrible:( She lost 147 lbs in her first year. She's around 5'8 & went from 275 to 128, but she doesn't exercise a whole lot--she did only have Protein first. She looks great, but 2 doctors have told her she's a little too thin. She swears her pouch is small & doesn't hold that much, but she's always eating b/c she's afraid if she were to get sick, she'd lose more. Good luck to you!

Thank you! I feel exactly how your mother feels. I also think my pouch is way too small. I am hoping I don't lose too much more weight because I believe I am way too thin.

I am so glad for this post, I am 3 months out and experiencing the same. For the last two days I could not eat or drink then today I have gone to Soup and Meal Replacement drink and it has stayed down. I have been reading everything about stricture today and I was convinced that is what I have now I am not sure.

Ive been there. It was brutal. Yes you may have a stricture but you should go back to your doctor if you are not eating well. Don't wait too long like me and end up losing too much weight

To gain weight you need to eat more carbs, and if you are having trouble getting solids down try liquids with high carbs. Whatever it takes, but you do not want to lose too much because that will cause more problems. There are many high carb, high Protein drinks available or you can make your own. Exercise is also a key to a healthy body.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
