Good days and bad days question

Recommended Posts

I'm 2 months part op and I did have stricture and had my esophagus dilated last week (from less than 3cm-16cm) Anyway I'm eating and drinking now and have been doing well. However, tonight I couldn't keep my dinner down. I ordered chicken picotta and asparagus...ate a few bites and was full then 2 hrs later ended up throwing up.

So my question is, is it normal to have a "bad" day (not keeping food down) every once and a while?

Since my surgery nothing has been "normal" so I wanted to ask those of y'all who are having a "normal" recovery if this happens to you?

I had no complications with my surgery. The only times I have thrown up is when I ate too much, and it was immediate. I don't think 2 hours later sounds like anything normal.

The throwing up hasn't happened to me, but I have had times where an hour of having something I've had to run to the toilet. Usually it's with milk (I'm not lactose intolerant, I can handle cheese, yogurt etc buy milk just doesn't like me, i've has to switch to soy). Could it be there was something in the sauce, or that it was too fatty? Your stomach tolerance can change day to day, but keep an eye on this and if ut repeats go talk to your doc.

I guess I have had a very "normal" procedure and recovery, I've never experienced dumping or vomiting or anything other than a feeling of being too full when I'[ve over done it a bit, but I follow the darn plan pretty religiously.

Good luck and feel better

I had a bad day last week. I ate some chicken with low fat mayo. I spent the next 4 hours frothing and heaving and throwing up several times during the afternoon. I had chicken a few days beforehand and I was fine. I'm putting it down to maybe eating too fast or the chicken was too dry.

I consider that to be a bad day out of mostly good days.

Sounds like dumping syndrome. It can happen every once and a while. If it happens all the time it might be a strong indicator for a stricture. It is common for people who have strictures to have another stricture develop again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
