Hello everyone. I am coming up on my third month of my 6 month pre op diet. Has anyone that has had to do this not lost a lot of weight? I have lost a little over the past couple months but not much. What does the nutritionist do if you do not lose weight between visits?

Are you referring to a 6 month supervised diet required by your insurance company? if so, my insurance company will not cover the surgery if you don't lose weight each month or more specifically gain weight. I just finished up my first month and lost 4 lbs.

I had the option to do 3 months with my surgeon or 6 months with my primary doctor. I opted to do it with the surgeon and was told that if I gained or didn't lose weight at each appt., my insurance would deny coverage.

I've been following a strict diabetic/low carb lifestyle from about two weeks before my 1st appt. with my surgeon and started an exercise program (couch to 5k) about a week before that 1st appt. It feels like I'm going to keel over and die every time I open that app to workout but it's worth every step in the long run.

So far it's been going about how I thought it would. I lost about 10 pounds in the two weeks from when I started to when I saw the surgeon on the 15th and since then I've come down another 3-4 pounds. I'll see her again the end of next month and I'm determined not to screw this one up, lol.

You should check with your nutritionist and/or insurance company. It does seem to vary a lot from what I've seen on this site. Some want a specific amount of weight loss in the supervised pre-surgery period and others just don't want you to gain.

Definitely check with your insurance. I lost about 50 pounds on my 6 (turned 11, long story) month diet, so I don't even know what my insurance would have done otherwise. My NUT did say the reason they ask us to do it is to show that you can commit to a plan and make the changes you need to.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
