Anyone else having good funerals? our did you?

My surgery date is the 8th I'm only required a 5 day pre opinion diet. That will begin on the 3rd. I know some foods may be gone forever so I've been having some of them Anyone else?

My husband and I are having a "farewell to food tour". He had me pick 5 of the top restaurants I wanted to eat at before my surgery. I have already done my 14 day liquid diet and will just have to be on another liquid diet 3 days before surgery.

I told my dietitian about having food funerals... She flipped on me. I kept doing it but I always used position control. No more then a cup

It's important to be strong. You'll never be about to have anything carbonated like soda. Just follow your instructions of the pre-surgery diet. My taste buds actually changed after surgery. Sugar, Pasta, and bread made me sick. Plus my favorite steak isn't my favorite anymore.

Sure did! The very day that I made the decision to have WLS, my S.O. and I went to The Fishery in Keyport and had platters of the freshest seafood (raw, broiled, and fried), complete with sides. It is a fond memory for me. Every time I remember my food funeral, I smile. I don't have an inkling of regret about having it. Not one.

I had a big ol steak dinner with baked potato and soda. Im glad I did because steak or beef dosent agree with my tummy anymore. I wish I would have eaten one more deli sandwich. bread dosent feel good either in my belly. Enjoy what you really like because you may not enjoy it later. I missed eating after surgery, it depressed me a little too, but thats all in the past. I still miss the deli sandwich when I see my co workers eating them. Good luck on your surgery.

Nope. Personally i dont like the idea of thinking that any food is off limits or forbidden. I say all things in moderation. If you want some mac n cheese have a few bites. If you want ice cream have a little

I was sleeved in september an have lost over 150 lbs

This sounds wierd, but I'm enjoying the heck out of chewing. I know I'll be not chewing for 3-4 weeks, so I'm enjoying it all I can. I went to my fave place for my favorite meal-sized salad yesterday and enjoyed every bite. I just won't be able to eat that volume any more. And it was a half-size! Tonight I made grilled lamb chops and braised fennel for dinner. I don't know how grilled lamb and beef will work postop, but I do know it will be a while before I even try.

I had my food funeral at Artie's in Fairfax, VA at 7pm on February 24th. They have the best burger in Northern Virginia! After almost two weeks without anything substantial I can't wait for mushies, I need a little bit of variety in my life! Luckily my awesome wife has been sprucing up chicken broth for me, she has made it a lot easier to deal.

My dr said not to... But mine was an open face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy (extra gravy)

I have been eating a ton of raw veggies because it feels like it will be soooo long before I will eat them again.

There is no need for a funeral. food didn't die, you can eat everything you did before the WLS at the proper phase, just in smaller quantities and for some foods, less frequently.

I did have some of my favorites before surgery but I am really hoping to be able to eat some quantity of them after. Although now that I am 2 weeks post op and just starting pureed I really feel as if my tastes will change. I am full so quickly and do not crave the high calorie, fried or overly sweet foods as I used to. Maybe this will change but right now it is all I can do to eat what I need. Couple things that worry me that I'd like to get back to are popcorn, nuts, an occasional 1/2 bagel and cream cheese, occasionally a few chicken wings. Just to name a few. But I am in no hurry. Anyone have these same concerns. or know of my fate with these favorites?

I repeat. If some of you don't get it, then you just don't get it. For those of you that do...:)

I enjoyed my food funeral as well and no regrets. 3 days before surgery. Has a cocktail too! Mine was French fries, wings and a fresh local tuna steak sandwich. Now that I am healed (4 mos) I have wings and tuna steak (no bread) in very small quantities. No fries. But you will eat wide variety foods after you are cleared by your doctor.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
